舞踏カンパニー「鳰（Nio）」は、2025年2月28日、巳年・魚座の日に命を授かりました。

再生と変容を象徴する巳、深い感受性と境界を越える力を宿す魚座──

その星の巡り合わせに、大いなる導きを感じております。

「鳰」の名は、池辺に住む小さな水鳥、カイツブリの和名からいただきました。

かつて道に迷った人を水上から導いたという伝承を持ち

水面と水中を自在に軽やかに行き来するその姿から

見えない世界とこの世を行き来する存在として、古くから親しまれてきた鳥です。

この名を授かった背景には、ある夏の日に消えていったカイツブリの命と

その後、厳冬のなかで生まれ、無事に育った二羽の雛たちの存在があります。

命は絶えることなく巡り、かたちを変えながら脈々と受け継がれていく──。

この出来事を通して、私は命の儚さと力強さを深く感じました。

私たちの生の背景には、常に生まれてくることができなかった命たちの存在があります。

それを決して忘れることなく、無数の死者、精霊たち、見えない力に支えられて生かされていることに感謝しながら

奇跡のように与えられたこの命を、魂が宿るこの肉体を、全身全霊、からだまるごと飛び込み、生ききること。

私は、舞踏を通して出逢う己が肉体の豊穣な闇に

これらすべてを豊かに全うする無限の可能性が秘められていることを信じています。

これから始まる「鳰（Nio）」の旅を、どうか見守っていただけたら幸いです。

Butoh Company Nio — The Beginning of a Journey of Life

The Butoh company “Nio” was born on February 28, 2025, under the sign of the Snake and Pisces.

The Snake, symbolizing rebirth and transformation, and Pisces, embodying deep sensitivity and the power to transcend boundaries—

I feel a profound sense of guidance in this cosmic alignment.

The name “Nio” comes from the Japanese name for a small water bird, the grebe, which dwells by the waterside.

In ancient times, it was said that the grebe guided lost travelers across the water, and from its ability to move freely and gracefully between the surface and the depths, it has long been cherished as a being that travels between the unseen and visible worlds.

This name carries a special memory for me:

on a summer day, a grebe’s life quietly vanished,

and later, in the heart of winter, two new chicks were born and raised safely.

Life does not end—it flows on, changing form, handed down in an endless cycle.

Through this experience, I felt deeply both the fragility and the immense strength of life.

Behind every life that comes into being, there are always countless lives that could not.

Never forgetting this, and with gratitude for the countless spirits, ancestors, and unseen forces that sustain us,

I vow to live this miraculous life, to embody this soul within my body, diving fully into life with all my being.

Through Butoh, I encounter the fertile darkness within my own body, and I believe that within this darkness lies the infinite potential to embrace and fulfill everything life holds.

I would be honored if you would watch over the journey of “Nio” as it now begins.
